Inconsistencies, conflicting reports from the experts…it’s no wonder women are increasingly confused about when and how often to get a mammogram. This video from The Wall Street Journal along with the accompanying article seek to explain why it’s been difficult for the experts to come to a consensus.
We’re perturbed by the length of time it’s taking the experts to get it right and are simply not buying it. It’s irresponsible and unacceptable for them not to have more specific and clear guidelines for an issue that’s so critical and impacts so many women – breast cancer is the most common cancer for women. We figure we’re not going to sit on our laurels while they try to figure it out.
The best way to sort through the confusion is to educate ourselves. In this previously published gapmuse post, we tried to dispel some of the myths surrounding mammograms and provided some useful mammogram resources to help you make better decisions around testing. Hope they’ll be helpful to you and the women in your lives.
