Catch-Phrase Inspires a Dialogue:
With Labor Day looming, we thought it would be only fitting to peek back at a woman who used a catch-phrase that inspired a dialogue about the challenges women still face in the workplace today. In 1984, Gay Bryant, editor at Working Woman magazine at the time, was the first to use the term “glass ceiling” in an Adweek interview. Two years later, the term was popularized by The Wall Street Journal in an article about the difficulties encountered by women in the business world.
